Global Brand Communications Director

Boat Rocker Studios is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our growing global brand franchise team. The Global Brand Communications Director will report to the EVP Brand Management & Content Marketing.  This is a new role within our team, so we are looking for a candidate that can shape and build the position whilst executing flawlessly. As an entrepreneurial thinker you are adept at taking a 360 view of storytelling to drive an engaging conversation in the right places to deepen brand love across our portfolio of brands. A person with a proven track record of leading and executing global/regional/local communications campaigns for franchise brands, ensuring an integrated approach across several lines of business such as content, distribution, digital, consumer products, licensing sales and retail. 

As an entrepreneurial thinker you will relish the opportunity to work 360 creating a fully integrated communications strategy across each line of business to ultimately drive brand awareness and engagement, grow audiences and help to drive commercial conversion. Serving as the global comms strategist and project manager key responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

  • Lead the brand communications strategy for both trade and consumer across PR and influencer space to position and build each brand to maximise exposure.  Primarily focussed on the kids & family franchise brands, but when opportunities arise will also encompass scripted and factual genres.
  • Work alongside the brand, licensing, and content distribution team to create global/regional communications & PR strategies to align with overarching brand strategy to support all sales and brand building efforts across content distribution, licensing & merchandising, retail and franchise brand building.
  • Campaign execution – define key goals & objectives, messages, and tactics for each local/regional communications initiatives and identity the appropriate tools and amplification channels for each campaign. Ensuring the most efficient, relevant tactics to drive media coverage, influencers to reach new consumers.  Helping to build powerful franchises across content, digital, consumer products to drive commercial conversion.
  • Ensuring brand communication strategies encompass strong digital execution across YouTube, social channels, and corporate websites.
  • Create & deliver overarching brand copy/brand positioning for broadcasters, digital platforms, and influencers. Creating an always on approach to messaging, ’what we say, when we say it, how we say it and to whom’.
  • Lead creation & distribution of all brand press releases as they relate to broadcasting deals, licensing deals, agent representation, ratings, and other key successes. Working with key stakeholders on approvals both internally and externally.
  • Devise ‘breakthrough’ buzzworthy PR moments and activations to elevate the brand and in some cases portfolio message. Blue sky thinking around stunts, CP launches to drive brand engagement and cut through.
  • Hire, lead and manage third party PR/brand comms agencies locally, regionally, and globally. To ensure that key objectives/KPIs are met, to maximise brand awareness/engagement.
  • Comms lead across portfolio with broadcasting/digital platforms/co-pro partnerships, licensing partners PR teams, retailers. Strategizing how to drive cut through along the consumer journey from TV launch to product launch.
  • Work with brand directors to help influence brand positioning within the production of all digital content (short form, playisodes, TVC’s, brand reels etc). Providing input into all key selling and marketing materials and key tradeshows.
  • Regularly monitor and review brand performance across the region, communicating successes and highlighting potential risks to EVP.  Have a thorough knowledge of key trends, brands, and competitors’ performance
  • Constantly analyze and keep ahead of the rapidly evolving landscape of local media platforms, quickly developing expertise in how to build franchise brands and achieve commercial success on new emerging platforms especially digital. Be fully aware of the ever-changing media space.
  • Seek brand collaborations to leverage the positioning of Boat Rocker Studios and our IP within the preschool environment.
  • Manage brand communications budget ensuring maximum ROI, reporting monthly and quarterly.
  • Establish, nurture relationships with publications, websites, reviewers, influencers, social platforms and other media partners. Including placing competitions, content placement features, costume character appearances etc.
  • Lead the annual trade ad and press release calendar with quarterly review to support key pillars and lifecycle of each brand.
  • Identifying panel opportunities for executives (in conjunction with corporate comms). Opportunities to lift company awareness and brand messaging.
  • Talent management securing opportunities, briefing talent across core franchise brands.
  • Media training for BRS executives (in conjunction with corporate comms).
  • Crisis management as it pertains to content/talent/topical moments working in conjunction with corporate comms on wider BR positioning.

  • 10-15 years of solid global experience within an entertainment, licensing, or retail environment, understanding how to build brands and franchises is key, preferably kids & family content.
  • Strong experience working in the digital space and with influencers.
  • Seasoned executive with proven track record in strategic brand communications leading one brand voice across multiple business units, to create brand awareness, drive cut through and deliver strong franchise growth and revenue. 
  • Solid understanding and strong connections with both trade (broadcast & licensing) and consumer press within the key markets globally.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills who is a self starter.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working within a small team and within a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA strongly preferred.
