CG Supervisor

We’re currently looking for a CG Supervisor to join one of our exciting new productions! The CG Supervisor will collaborate with production and studio leadership, to determine and manage the technical approach needed to achieve the creative and quality goals and vision of the project within the allocated budget, schedule, and resources.

What You’ll Do:
  • Ensure integrity, quality, and fiscal responsibility as a representative of Jam Filled Entertainment
  • Help create initial show schedule to fit within approved budget and call-out any foreseen issues
  • Partner with Production Management and Director to keep project in scope, on budget, and on schedule
  • Provide regular status updates and confirm priorities to Production Management
  • Establish the technical direction and technical blueprint to meet artistic, budget and schedule parameters
  • Collaborate with Producer, Director, and other key members of the leadership team to assess complexity, determine technical methodologies and provide bid times
  • Create and develop consensus between Technology, Artists, and Production Management to enable and realize Director’s vision
  • Outline overall project workflow and consult with executive management on items that affect overall studio operations and staffing
  • Ensure changes to scope are technically feasible/deliverable with current budget and schedule, and fit in with the studio pipeline
  • Maintain daily, open communication with Production Management to achieve artistic goals set by Director/Art Director
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting for technical and quota issues as needed
  • Ensure proper information is continually updated in the asset management system
  • Attend Director/Art Director rounds and approvals to offer technical guidance if needed
  • Identify and eliminate any technical issues that arise, that can affect production
  • Drive all complexity assessment meetings
  • Ensure that the project leverages existing studio technology and complies with studio workflow and data creation polices and best practices where appropriate
  • Work with each department to ensure selected workflows are consistently being followed
  • Ensure that data and image creation workflows comply with project and studio specifications
  • Assess and monitor consumption of render and storage requirements allocated to project
  • Actively contribute to development of overall pipeline process within the studio
  • Identify, research, recommend, and participate in implementation of new techniques, technologies (hardware and software) and methodologies, adding value to Jam Filled’s toolset
  • Conduct audits and advise senior production staff of pipeline concerns
  • Oversee tests, and manage and troubleshoot interdepartmental issues
  • Evaluate pitches, proposals, and ideas to identify methods and accurately evaluate the team and technical elements required for a potential project
  • Promote a positive and productive work environment and lead collaboratively across departments and within facility
  • Assist with special projects as required

This will be your JAM if you have:
  • Previous experience as a CG Supervisor, supervising fully computer animated productions in all departments (feature, series or other)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate creative and technical issues to directors, artists, technical directors, and production
  • Previous experience working in Live Action or Visual Effects is an asset
  • Experience with Stereoscopic and/or special venue productions (Imax, Omnimax or similar) is an asset
  • Completed post-secondary education in relevant area of study desired
  • Strong combined creative and technical background
  • Maya, Nuke and Fusion experience is essential
  • General understanding of animation styles and techniques as well as an excellent comprehension of animation production for film and/or television
  • Excellent comprehension of the animation production pipeline, with an understanding of how all departments interact with one another
  • Strong leadership, management, mentoring, and diplomacy skills
  • Creative eye and appreciation of current cinematic conventions
  • Up-to-date awareness of trends in CG, film, television, and gaming
  • Strong Scripting/Coding skills in mel, python, c++ are essential
