Jam Filled is looking for a 3D Generalist to join our team! This person must have a solid understanding of multiple disciplines in the 3D pipeline including Assets, Layout, Animation, Shot Finaling and Lighting. The Generalist works closely with the CG Supervisor, Director(s), and Production team to ensure the vision of the project is achieved technically and creatively. Duties & Responsibilities
Understanding the flow of sequences and shots; figuring out how to optimize shot work in Maya, while keeping sequence continuity intact
Optimize current pipeline processes, planning out the workflow or writing tools using Mel/Python
New solutions should be Jam Filled Pipeline-friendly
Prepare assigned work/solutions to presentation to Director/CG-Supervisor
Anticipate, communicate, and troubleshoot any creative or technical issues with assistance from key stakeholders
Finaling Department specific responsibilities in shots:
Remove undesirable geometric penetrations, folds and creases from rigged assets
Ensure that rigged assets are in contact with one another and their environment appropriately
Work directly with Animation supervisor/lead/director on approval for Character Finaling
Ensure that rigged assets are prepared for effects simulations as required
Based on project, do FX simulations, with cloth and hair
Set dress shots based upon key artwork and directions from Art Director to achieve the desired aesthetic
Ensure continuity between shots and sequences
Ensure the shot is assembled in the most efficient manner
Communicate with other departments to ensure all production assets (characters, sets, props, matte paintings, vfx etc) are up to date, included into shots and rendering successfully
Polish cameras if necessary
Build assets according to the requirement of the shots
Prepare files for lighting/rendering and compositing
Render the shot for director and CG Supervisor review and approval
Required Skills & Experience
2-3+ years of proven VFX/CGI skills
Completed post-secondary education in 3D animation or relevant area of study
Attention to detail
General understanding of animation styles and techniques as well as a basic comprehension of animation production for film and/or television
Strength in layout (planning and asset management), and cinematography a plus
Good communication skills with the ability to work productively in a team environment
Good creative and technical problem solving skills
Ability to learn quickly and to comprehend custom in-house production tools
Ability to take direction from various levels of individuals
Good organizational skills with a strong attention for detail
Basic understanding of CG modeling, surfacing, animation and lighting
Experience with Maya software preferred
Working knowledge of compositing software
Basic knowledge of MEL or Python an asset
