Role Overview
Boat Rocker Studios is looking to fill a 12-month fixed-term role covering a maternity leave for a Director, Digital Sales & Content Partnerships. The role is responsible for driving revenue and strategic growth across digital and emerging distribution platforms, with a core focus on YouTube monetization and scale. This role leads YouTube exploitation and all other AVOD/TVOD/FAST revenue generation, revenue-share partnerships, creative evaluation, and third-party content acquisitions tailored specifically for these platforms. Sitting at the intersection of sales, digital strategy, and content development, the role ensures the company’s content catalogue is fully optimized across international markets and evolving distribution models.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Partnerships
- Lead revenue-share distribution strategy for the company’s television back catalogue, establishing and maintaining relationships with global streaming platforms, FAST channels, AVOD/TVOD platforms & services, and aggregators.
- Procure new distribution partners and manage ongoing relationships to ensure consistent and optimized revenue generation.
- Monitor, analyze, and reconcile royalty statements, using performance data to inform platform strategy, content packaging, and deal optimization.
- Strategize and curate content packages tailored to individual platforms, ensuring rights availability, market fit, and commercial viability.
- Review and negotiate legal terms in collaboration with internal legal teams, and liaise with Media Operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery of content.
YouTube Strategy & Channel Management
- Oversee the exploitation of the company’s content catalogue on YouTube, including the creation, launch, and ongoing management of branded channels.
- Develop channel-specific content strategies focused on audience growth, monetization, and long-term brand building across children’s unscripted and scripted programming
- Plan for future scalability, including assessing and managing third-party partners for channel operations while maintaining strategic oversight and performance accountability.
Creative Content Review & Content Acquisitions
- Evaluate new development materials and creative projects through the lens of emerging platforms, including AVOD/TVOD and FAST, offering guidance on format, positioning, and market suitability.
- Review content in production, including early cuts, and provide constructive notes to production teams to support creative and commercial success.
- Source and evaluate third-party content suitable for inclusion in the company’s distribution catalogue with a specific view for AVOD/TVOD, FAST and YouTube
- Actively contribute to keeping the distribution catalogue fresh, relevant, and competitive by regularly onboarding new content and producer partners.
Qualifications / Core Skills & Expertise
- 10+ years’ experience in content distribution and acquisitions, with a strong commercial and sales-led orientation.
- Proven expertise in international television distribution and acquisitions across multiple territories and buyer types.
- Deep understanding of revenue-share, AVOD/TVOD, FAST, and digital monetization models, with a track record of driving revenue growth.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing YouTube channel strategies, including multi-platform exploitation and monetization.
- Strong background in rights management, deal structuring, and contract review, with the ability to optimize value across platforms.
- Skilled in creative evaluation, development analysis, and market positioning to align content with audience and commercial demand.
- Experience managing producer relationships and curating content catalogues to support scalable distribution and revenue outcomes.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 CAD
